How to be a Climate Activist
From officers across our campaigns, how are you a climate activist?

✶I joined an activist organization within my community. People power!! -Penelope Ackling, Activism Director
✶I have conversations with my friends and family to educate them further on current climate issues. - Adam Day, Political Director
✶I try to advocate for more people to be conscious of the real measures that need to be taken to address climate change - Patrick, Education Officer
✶By educating people that climate change is today’s issue, not tomorrow's problems. And while it may be a daunting task, with a positive attitude we can solve those issues.- Connor Downs, media officer
✶I stay informed, hopeful, and passionate about seeing systemic change. I sit down with others and have conversations with them, keeping an open mind. Our movement is much stronger when it is centered around our communities. -Ella Hammersly, Education Director
✶I have conversations with others in my life, especially friends and family, about how the institutions that we take for granted have a real impact on our environment. Climate activism can start with just curiosity about how the world works and why it doesn’t improve. I also speak up when I am able to in front of those in power in order to call for changes that will bring a better future. - Lee Yang, Activism Officer
✶I focus on changing what I can and not getting down about what I can't. For me, that looks like taking control of my own life to reflect my beliefs. This prevents burnout from trying to take on more than my share of the fight, and keeps me aware of my own size in a way that's both empowering and humbling. Embodying my beliefs also allows my activism to reach everywhere I do. I don't always succeed in this though, and that's okay too. - Hazel Kent, Media Director

✶I got involved in my community. The all encompassing nature of the climate crisis can make the problems feel so large and change feel so unattainable. I’ve learned that, by taking the time to plug into community efforts and taking the time to talk to community members about the change they want to see and how they’re working to achieve it, I have come to better understand the bigger picture of how change can happen and what role we as individuals add to our communities. Listen, learn, teach, unlearn, grow, grieve, heal, love. - Kristine Januskaite, Activism Codirector
✶Stay positive when things get worse, it’s a long battle that needs to be fought, and it’s important to stay motivated!-Grace Ann, Education Officer
✶Be passionate! Love what you are fighting for and it will make all the difference. - Ethan, Education Officer
